Less than 4% of dental practices have their own onsite labs, according to the National Association of Dental Laboratories. This means that the vast majority of tooth restorations are made in an external lab, which is often in another state or even outside the country.
Here at Pioneer Dental Group in Norwalk, California, Dr. Behzad Binafard and our dedicated team believe that you deserve the best — and that’s why we built an onsite dental lab. This month’s blog explains four benefits of an onsite dental lab that you might not have known about.
Dentists who send their orders to external labs have very little control over what materials are used and how restorations are made — and that means you might not know exactly what’s in your mouth. Having our own dental lab means that we get to select all the materials we use personally.
We design your restorations using a state-of-the-art computer program, according to Dr. Binafard’s specific directions. Then, we use the highest quality materials to craft your custom restoration. We also run extensive tests on every restoration we make to ensure it meets our high-quality standards.
When dental restorations are made in another lab, the back-and-forth process takes a lot of time, often several weeks or even longer. Having our own dental lab in the office means we can complete restorations much faster.
We typically create crowns and bridges in just two or three days. With more complex dental appliances — for example, full-mouth dentures — it may take a bit longer, but it’s still a much faster process than having dentures made in an external lab.
Convenience really matters with all types of health care. We understand that you want to spend as little time as possible in our office because you have a busy life to live. Having our own onsite dental lab means that we can minimize the time you spend in the office (and traveling to it).
In most cases, you only need two visits to the office in total. In the first, Dr. Binafard takes X-rays, examines your mouth, takes impressions, and determines exactly what you need. In the second, he places your brand-new restoration and makes sure it fits and functions perfectly.
If a crown, bridge, or dentures get knocked loose or damaged in an accident, they need proper restoration to ensure they’ll fit back into your mouth securely. Our onsite dental lab can provide prompt repairs whenever you need them.
Because we’re the ones who originally created your restoration, we’re already familiar with it and can provide the most effective repairs. The whole repair process is incredibly easy for you: Simply bring them in and we can get to work right away.
We’re making it easier than it’s ever been to get dental restorations, and our Pioneer Dental Group team is ready to help you. Call our office or contact us here today.
